Symes was forced off in the second quarter.
"I've spoken to Brandon and he says it's not that sore, but it's pretty unstable so that's not good," coach Damian Sexton said of his representative player.

"We're just hoping for the best, but they (medical staff) reckon with ACL's (anterior cruciate ligaments), the soreness is not there."
Symes has been one of the league's best big men for some years and is enormously popular with the Pigeons.
"He's a ripping bloke," Sexton said.
"He could get a squillion dollars in a lot of other places, but he doesn't want that at all.
"He's an unbelievable clubman, you build your foundations on people like him."
The Pigeons were decimated by injuries against the Hawks and had no bench after half-time.
"Jordy Urquhart broke a bone in his thumb and Ryan Bruce had a hamstring," Sexton said.
"We were in control at half-time (Yarrawonga led by 13 points), but once you don't have a bench, there's no rotations and boys are staying out there either injured or sore."
Urquhart is expected to miss up to six weeks, while the classy Bruce will be hoping to recover for Saturday's away game against North Albury.
It follows a similar path for the Pigeons this season.
Gun midfielder Mark Whiley missed rounds three and four with a corked thigh, while Morris medallist Tyler Bonat hasn't played due to an Achilles heel complaint.
The rising Isaac McMillan is still out with a collarbone problem, while speedy defender James Elliott injured his posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) in a practice match.
Yarrawonga has just the two wins against Corowa-Rutherglen and Wodonga.
