DESERVED DANNY
Former Barnawartha coach Danny DeMarte broke into the senior line-up for the first time this season last weekend. Coach Peter Cook said the Tiger veteran deserved the opportunity. "We pick the side on form and Danny has been playing well in the reserves for a number of weeks and warranted a call-up," Cook said. "It not a bad effort considering I went to his 40th a couple of years ago now."
GOALKICKING BLUES
Mitta United desperately need to find another avenue to goal if it is to regain a spot inside the top-five. Apart from Drew Cameron with 47 goals, the Blues lack another reliable forward. Danny Stewart is the next highest with eight and while he is a dangerous forward, he is also the Blues' best midfielder alongside Craig Lieschke.
JOURNEYMAN MARMO
Football journeyman Josh Marmo has bobbed-up at Rutherglen. Marmo played his first game for the Cats last weekend against Dederang-Mt Beauty and made an impressive debut after booting five goals. Marmo previously played under Cats co-coach Daniel Athanitis at Rand-Walbundrie. He booted 102 goals in 2014.
