That came after Sean Evans-McClelland made a brief appearance before magistrate Rodney Brender in Albury Local Court.
The bearded 26-year-old, wearing a sleeveless, white hooded puffer jacket and blue jeans sat in the dock for only a couple of minutes after being led into court at 9.45am.
Detective Inspector Winston Woodward said later that Evans-McClelland had been living in Springdale Heights for the past month, though he was not believed to be from the area.
It is claimed that Evans-McClelland entered the Woolworths Caltex about on June 6 about 6.35am while brandishing a knife.
He was charged with a strictly indictable count of robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
"My instructions today are that there will be no application for bail," defence lawyer Tim Hemsley said.
He asked that the matter be adjourned to August 20 for preparation of the police brief.
