Border rugby union enthusiasts had the chance to pose with the trophy and players at Albury's QEII Square, before moving onto the Steamers home ground Murrayfield for a clinic.

The visit marked day 21 of 61 in Rugby Australia's Gold Blooded Tour, which aims to promote the game and Wallabies in the lead up to the Rugby World Cup in Japan in September.

Former Wallaby and Brumbies' player Gerrard is on his first leg of the tour and said he welcomed the opportunity to give back to the sport.

He added it wasn't his first time on the Border, having visited previously with the Brumbies.

"It's good to do these types of things and I think it's important for the game itself," Gerrard said.

"Not just promoting the World Cup, but the Wallabies in the World Cup.

"It's valuable for younger groups to see.

"They won't have a clue who we are, which is really cool, but we can promote the game and make sure it's put in the right context with a really good and positive atmosphere."

This year will mark 20 years since Australia last took home the Cup.

The Gold Blooded Tour spans from Alice Springs to Hobart over a two month period, concluding on August 10 at the Bledisloe Cup in Perth.

With the Rugby World Cup in the same time zone this year, the tour aims to get young fans tuning in.
