Lyn Wallis (formerly HotHouse Theatre artistic director) and her mini-Schnauzer Pablo, will launch The Baranduda Moonshot from the Baranduda Community Centre on July 16 at 6pm, and then broadcast from space throughout the next five days via Facebook Live.
They will make a daring attempt to land and walk on the moon on July 20 to 21.
"I am extremely honoured to be representing Baranduda in this highly technical and inspirational endeavour, and to be taking my very capable dog Pablo with me," Wallis said.
"I am training hard to perfect the difficult powered descent to the moon. Yes, I have crashed the Lunar Module Simulator 473 times so far - but please don't tell Pablo that."
MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS:
The Baranduda Moonshot will recreate the Apollo 11 moon mission and landing against the original timeline 50 years ago using various digital platforms, 3D printing technology and craft.
Wallis and Pablo will use community and backyard locations to playfully recreate key mission moments, which will be broadcast via Facebook Live.
Launch activities include live-streaming from the Saturn V, 3D printing, telescope viewing by the Astronomical Society of Albury-Wodonga and a sausage sizzle.
