Jordan Bourke, 26, pleaded not guilty to the 13 charges against him including the attempted murder of Dusty Lyons, who described the accused as his mate during court proceedings.
He appeared in custody in the Wodonga Magistrates Court on Thursday in the second day of his committal hearing where magistrate Ross Maxted ruled there was sufficient evidence for the matter to go to trial.
The court heard from four witnesses on day two, including the neighbour who called emergency services after witnessing "two men verbally fighting and cussing at each other".
The court heard Laura Robins was unpacking her groceries and two children when she heard what she described as "100 per cent a gun shot".

"My main concern was with my children and ensuring they were safe. I heard a large, loud crack," she said.
The court heard Ms Robins said in her statement to police she heard one of the men yell "I will kill you, you f------ c---".
The court heard Mr Lyons had multiple pieces of gun residue lodged in his forehead after he was allegedly shot from close range.
Firearm and tool mark examiner Leading Senior Constable Alan Pringle gave specialist evidence and said in his opinion there were two likely causes of the gun shot residue on the alleged victim's forehead.
"Either a live round has missed the target or a blank was fired," he said.
Leading Senior Constable Pringle explained to the court the gun could not have misfired, as it would not have left any residue.
The police informant Detective Senior Constable Ben Ryan said a home-made silencer was found at the address of the accused along with a .22 calibre bullet.
The court heard police also found two bullet holes in the ceiling of Bourke's lounge room when investigating the incident.
Three examples of video evidence were tendered by the prosecution which included CCTV footage from a neighbouring address, footage from Mr Lyon's phone from the day of the alleged offending and footage from a phone found in Bourke's possession two days after.
The other charges against Bourke include intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury, unlawful assault with a firearm, possess a firearm, prohibited person use a firearm, possess methylamphetamine and possess a home-made silencer.
He was remanded in custody to appear at a directions hearing in the Melbourne Supreme Court on Friday, July 12.
Bourke did not apply for bail.
The trial will likely be held in February at the Wodonga Supreme Court.
