SOMETIMES the most complex issues are best explained through the eyes of a child.
Written and directed by Yackandandah playwright Brendan Hogan, The Last Boy on Earth is brought to life by Aya McInerney, 11, Connor Wall, 12, Alexandra Mason, 12, and Henry Rotherham, 14.
Hogan said the young cast expertly portrayed the complex issues with both skill and wit.
"You can explore heavy issues - like climate change or waste - with children and explain what's usually missing from the debate with adults," he said.
Having first been performed in a converted Yackandandah op shop last year, the Yackandandah Young Players' show was discovered by HotHouse Theatre and catapulted into its 2019 season.
Musician Ben Gallagher has composed a new score for the show, which now features a bigger set and professional lighting.

Hogan said the family-friendly show had something for everyone.
"Although it's a children's show, there's plenty in there for the adults too," Hogan said.
