THE Scots School is proposing to demolish its principal's residence with a development application for the works lodged with Albury Council this week.

The site has been earmarked for a new junior school with present school principal Peggy Mahy not occupying the residence since 2016.
"The site is to be re-grassed and maintained until sold or rebuilt upon," the application states.

"Any asbestos encountered will be removed by a WorkCover licenced contractor.
"Asbestos to be plastic wrapped and disposed of accordingly.
"All damaged and insignificant trees and shrubs are to be removed during demolition.
"All large trees are to remain.
"The building will be continually sprayed with a fine mist water spray to reduce any dust created during the demolition."
Demolition works, estimated to cost $20,000, will be carried out by Albury Demolitions.
Its construction pre-dates the amalgamation of Albury Grammar School and Woodstock Presbyterian Ladies College to become The Scots School in 1972.
The brick dwelling is located in the north-west corner of the school grounds on the corner of Young and Perry streets, but according to the development application has no heritage listing implications.
One of the most recent capital works projects at the school was a $6 million indoor sports centre featuring two timber floor basketball courts was opened in 2010 by Albury tennis legend Margaret Court.
The works include construction of a vehicle repair station with associated parts sales, offices and amenities and car parking on the corner of Borella Road and Drome Street.
Access will be from Drome Street via the Bunnings warehourse driveway.
Autobarn is presently based in Young Street, but is the latest business to move to the area off the back of the Bunnings relocation.
McDonald's, Total Tools and another car-related business, Auto One, have been established in recent times.
