In a short email to the Border Mail on Tuesday he said he was hoping to be home within a week.
The close-knit community has continued to rally around the family with an influx of "good samaritans" helping with building work on the Filby's partially completed home at the weekend.
A gofundme page has been set up for the continued support of Mr Filby and the couple's four gorgeous boys Taj, 15, Zane, 13, Ari, 10, and Lawson, 9.
The fundraiser had reached nearly $34,000 of a $100,000 goal on Tuesday afternoon with friends reaching out to the wider community for its support.
