A man with a binge-drinking problem has been jailed for a year after torching a shed at the Wodonga Cemetery while heavily drunk.

Wayne McLean was on Monday ordered to serve 12 months in custody for the blaze, which occurred during a break-in last October.
McLean was caught by security cameras removing screws from tin panels and entering.

McLean was caught drink-driving from the scene on the night - his eighth such offence - which magistrate Ian Watkins said deserved a stint behind bars in itself.
He ordered the 51-year-old undertake a 12-month community corrections order once he is released from prison.
