Books For Kids Global, a project overseen by Rotary Club of Wodonga West, will send 250 kilograms of books to seven provincial primary schools in Thailand to help the students learn English.
Rotary club president Jos Weemaes said people had responded well to the appeal.
"We have plenty of books for this shipment and we have already started collecting books for the next shipment," he said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Many donors were parents whose children had outgrown early reading books.
"They don't want to throw them away, they want to do something with them," Mr Weemaes said.
"They're really beautiful books and the kids up in Thailand will be very, very pleased with them."
The 2020 shipment aims to be three times as large, with books still able to be dropped off at Lifeline Albury in Wilson Street. Donations of money for shipping can also be made to the Rotary club.
