The town's fire brigade president, Hugh Watson, said there was a perception in the community about a spike in crime.
"It's probably been a concern for residents out here for some time," he said.

"I would suggest it's come to a head in the past couple of years.
"The break-ins which have happened with the CFA and RFS have probably gotten worse.
Mr Watson said money raised by volunteers had been diverted from equipment and spent on security.
There have been a string of recent fire station burglaries in the region and other failed attempts.
In one recent break-in chainsaws, socket sets, other tools and bandages - which Mr Watson said was all needed during emergencies - were stolen.
A man was recently captured on camera trying to access the Table Top site.
The RFS is installing security cameras at all sites in the region, with the upgrades at Splitters Creek alone costing $17,000.
Police will attend Thursday's meeting with councillors and politicians.
Mr Watson said it wasn't about pointing fingers, but keeping the community informed.
"It's about getting together and listening to all the facts for all the relevant authorities," he said.
"I think it will be a community effort rather than a political effort, a neighbour watch type issue.
"I think people are frustrated and it might just be a perception that nothing's being done.
"Hopefully our fears and concerns will be addressed."
Similar concerns have been raised in south Wodonga.
Police released a crime prevention message on Monday amid a spate of burglaries near greenbelt areas.
Homes have generally been accessed from rear yards with offenders entering through unlocked side and rear doors, and windows.
Wallets and purses have been targeted, often in evenings when residents are home, with people urged to secure their homes.
The forum will start at 6pm at the Burma Road fire station.
