COOK'S DONUT
Thurgoona defender Kane Westlow enhanced his reputation after keeping Peter Cook goalless for the first time in a final. Cook usually saves his best for finals and has previously produced some unbelievable performances at Sandy Creek. The Tigers sharpshooter only had limited opportunities with the Bulldogs midfield dominating the clearances.
TOUGH GOING
Peter Cook wasn't the only key forward to find the going tough at Sandy Creek. The league's leading goalkicker, Ricky Whitehead, was also kept to his lowest tally of the season after managing only one goal. The Hawks' Peter Winnett was able to blanket the big Swan and could find himself on either Cook or Josh Spence on Saturday.
ROOS STEW
It proved to be a bad day at the office for Yackandandah at Sandy Creek on Saturday. The Roos had all three grades apart from the seniors in the second semi-final after finishing on top of the ladder. Despite their lofty standing, all three lost and now play in the cut-throat preliminary final. The Roos seconds were undefeated before going down to Thurgoona.
