I am amazed at the enormous amount of one-sided viewpoints being published to the almost total exclusion of a counter view on the controversial topic of "man-made climate change".

Where is the balance?
The "science" is most certainly not settled on this subject as evidenced by many highly qualified scientists, academics, specialists and agencies that refute the misinformation by vested interests of "man-made climate change" and disguised as "science".
These counter arguments can be readily found online and elsewhere if one has an open and inquiring mind.
However, I sense the hysteria surrounding the issue by brain-washed school children and eco-zealots is stifling any real and balanced debate by pathological altruists like the Greens .

A golden opportunity has been missed by council
What an excellent letter from Graydon Johnston (The Border Mail, letters to the editor, September 25) about Indigo Shire and its decisions.
This shire was formed from the forced amalgamation of local towns in 1996 to the thundering tones of "economies of scale".
What a joke.
Indigo bureaucrats immediately bred like rabbits such that soon they outgrew the shire offices in Beechworth and external consultants were appointed unanimously declaring that Chiltern, because of its central position and proximity to the Hume corridor, should be the premier site for new shire offices.
This infuriated vested interests in Beechworth who successfully lobbied new councillors to overturn the decision.
The Border Mail reported that one prominent shire councillor declared that "Chiltern is a dump" and therefore not suitable, so the decision was overturned and now the shire offices are divided between Beechworth and Yackandadah on the very eastern edge of the shire.
A golden opportunity was missed and both the shire and Chiltern have suffered as a consequence.
Hegemony is created when one town dominates an amalgamation of several states or towns. Beechworth is an excellent example of this phenomenon and its councillors have chosen to become elitists who think they know what is best for the ratepayers of Indigo without even asking them.
The recent declaration of a climate emergency is proof that there must be a better way to elect our council representatives.

Shift of focus is needed
To Cr Kat Bennett, I believe you should be concerned about roads, overgrown walkways, parks and gardens - not climate change - that's not what we voted you in for.
Put your energy into making Wodonga better, not trying to use your position to push your own agenda.
Geoff Miller, Wodonga
