The girl's father had to leave momentarily to retrieve some tools to carry out some repairs on a bike.
But as soon as the father left, Konstantinos Klimentidis motioned to the girl to come over to him.
The 75-year-old asked her to come closer then took her by the hand, Albury Local Court has heard.
"The offender," police said, "had his penis exposed and pulled the victim's hand towards him and placed it on his penis."

The girl eventually pulled her hand free and moved away from Klimentidis.
This all took place "in the presence of the victim's young brother".
When her father returned, the girl told him she wanted to return home.
Once they had made it back to their home, the girl described what happened to her mother.
The mother then immediately called police.
Klimentidis had been set to contest the charge of intentional sexual touching of a child under 10 years, having pleading not guilty.
A hearing was to have taken place on October 30.
But defence lawyer Kathy Hall this week asked magistrate Rodney Brender to vacate the hearing date as her client wanted to change his plea to guilty.
A frail Klimentidis - who moved slowly with the aid of a walking stick, needing his daughter's help to sit down and stand up - made no comment nor did he show any reaction during the mention of the matter.
The court heard that Klimentidis lived alone and was cared for by his daughter, who lived in another dwelling on the same property.
She said Klimentidis took medication for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and vertigo, that he used cannabis and he occasionally drank alcohol.
"She has informed police that when the accused drinks alcohol he becomes unpredictable and (also) has a bladder problem, which often results in him leaving himself exposed," police said.
The daughter tried to restrict his drinking, "however, is not always successful in doing so".
The assault on the girl took place on April 30 when she and her brothers just happened to be riding bikes and scooters in the street.
Klimentidis was arrested and charged by Albury police the following day.
He was further bailed to re-appear in court for sentence on December 3.
