Firefighters from the Mate Street brigade attended an incident in Boomerang Drive about 810pm on Wednesday.
A five-year-old set fire to a curtain, and they returned to the station about 9.15pm.
They noticed the flag had been stolen when they went to take it down about 30 minutes later.
"They had a look for it in the nearby area and it was gone," firefighter Simon Huggett said.
"The police have been notified and they're reviewing CCTV footage.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"It's a predominantly blue flag with the fire brigade's insignia on it.
"I'd encourage them to stick it in our letterbox.
"They could drop it back out the front of the station."
Mr Huggett said it was a disappointing incident.
Halyard rope holding up the flag was cut to pull down the flag.
He said it was about the fourth time a flag had been stolen from the station.
