Police raided Phillip Turner's room at Wodonga's Motel Wellington on September 5 last year.
They found a loaded .303 high-powered rifle in a bathroom with 10 rounds of ammunition in the attached magazine.
IN OTHER NEWS:
A check of his bedroom found a shortened shotgun receiver in a sock with eight more rounds.
A .38 handgun bullet was found in a jewellery box, and five samurai swords, a Taser, and marijuana were also uncovered.
He is banned from owning guns and also committed serious driving offences.
The 48-year-old was jailed for up to 15 months in Wodonga Magistrates Court, banned from driving for two years and fined $2500.
