The club made the announcement today, stating he was selected against a high quality field of applicants.
Wright has been Wagga's Prime7 station-sales manager for nine years, often travelling from his Border base.
The club appointed treasurer Paul Curtis early last month in an interim role after Tom O'Connor landed the top racing administration job at Warrnambool.
Wright is well known in sporting circles with his Bandits' role - the region's highest profile basketball outfit - following a long stint as an outstanding cricketer.
"The Wodonga Turf Club is one of the premier race clubs in country Victoria and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to join the team," he said.
"The club is in a fantastic position and I'm looking forward to playing a major role in what promises to be an exciting future for the club."
Wright has an extensive background in sports administration and has held the Bandits' top job for four years.
He's also a former general manager of Lavington Panthers' licensed club.
The Border's two big racing clubs have appointed new leaders this year with Steve Hetherton joining Albury.
