The young emerging tennis star can be found playing section one men's pennant for Wodonga on Saturday's after making the move up into the competition this season.

However, this isn't the first time Brown has tested herself against the guys, playing in the section two competition last year.

The Albury High School student said she felt the time was right to try her hand at a higher level.

"I just knew I needed a change, so we talked to the committee and they were able to get me on board," Brown said.

Brown said both her teammates and opposition show her plenty of support out on the court, but admits she's had to adapt elements of her own game to stay competitive.

"Probably returning mostly, you have to return a lot stronger otherwise it just gets chopped off," Brown said.

The tennis hopeful picked up the sport at a young age and loved it instantly.

She now spends her time out on the court playing or training just about every day of the week.

Brown said a major highlight was representing the winning NSW team at the Foundation Cup in the under-13's in Kooyong this year, marking the first time a Border player had been selected in the representative side.

Brown added one of her favourite aspects of the sport is the social element.

"I like the social side and meeting people at tournaments, I think that's pretty good," Brown said.

Brown's coach, Lewis Ahern, said he has seen big improvements in her game over the last 12-months.

"Her standard of tennis is pretty high for a 14-year-old and she's quite tall as well," Ahern said.

"I've been coaching her for the past two years now and since then she's really gone from a junior to playing against men in section one and in open ladies.

"She plays full-time tennis pretty much.

"If she's not on the court she's doing gym in the mornings or afternoons.

"A lot of work goes into it."
