Ednie, who has steered the Hoppers to two flags and a preliminary final in his three seasons at the Picola league club, stitched up the deal earlier this week.
Former Yarrawonga player Chris Wilson has also committed.
"It's good to have them all on board," Ednie said.
"We were probably unlucky to lose 'Penda' this year when he went back to Lavington but he's keen to come back as his family enjoyed it previously.
"He and Brad Thompson's daughters play rep basketball together and 'Thommo' then contacted Hayden Heta who was keen for a kick somewhere.
"I've been hassling 'Mahery' for a few years now so it's good everything has come together."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Maher has spent the past two seasons with Murray Magpies and was set to return to former club Albury before signing with Rennie.
Heta played for Melbourne club Fitzroy Stars this year while Pendergast managed four senior matches for Lavington including his 300th game for the Panthers.
Thompson, a four-time Wodonga best and fairest winner, was a member of Thurgoona's losing reserve grade grand final side against Yackandandah.
Ednie said he was unsure how many matches the quartet would play.
"Hopefully we get 'Mahery' to play six to eight or hopefully more and Hayden is coming from Melbourne so it's pretty hard to say," he said.
"'Thommo' is keen as well.
"I don't like to poach too many kids from Yarra because it's obviously better footy in the O and M and they are having a go at it.
"The older boys like the flexibility of it all."
Former Myrtleford coach Brad Murray and star Wangaratta defender Judd Porter have also played for Rennie in recent seasons.
