Best Walks East of Melbourne was launched recently in affiliation with National Geographic.
Sheather said he explored the region with family, friends and solo during the past 12 months.
He said there were classic walks and little-known, wild and adventurous tracks among the 40 walks, from Phillip Island to Ninety Mile Beach, the Yarra Ranges to Wilsons Promontory.
"Wilsons Promontory has to be my pick; it has a network of trails and spectacular scenery from secluded coves to sandy beaches," he said.
