Wayne Kenneth Robinson was locked up this week for offences against nine children, including a boy as young as eight, over a 13-year period through his Wangaratta-based Northern Rivers Academy of Music business.
The County Court heard staff raised concerns about his behaviour towards students eight years ago, but police said there was nothing to substantiate the claims and urged the person who contacted them "to keep an eye out".
One teacher caught Robinson in 2007 as he massaged a teenage boy, which startled the offender.
Robinson continued to abuse children until 2018, which included masturbation, groping, oral sex and penetration.
One boy was left "shaking and confused by his body's reaction as he had hated it".
Another teenager, who assisted Robinson during the Wangaratta Jazz Festival in 2012, was promised a $14,000 scholarship.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The boy met the teacher's wife and daughters at Robinson's home.
Robinson abused the 17-year-old while his family slept nearby.
He sent explicit images to another victim on Snapchat.
Robinson had been caught looking up "gay young boy sex movies" on his laptop at the music school in late 2017.
Another student communicated with him on an encrypted messenger app, and Robinson sent photographs, including highly explicit images, and asked the victim - who said they were 15 - if they wanted to meet.
They recognised the teacher and took screenshots of the messages and photographs.
The seventh victim was also groped while Robinson's family members were in bed nearby, and later said "don't tell anyone".
Despite the boy saying "I don't really wanna do this anymore", Robinson masturbated the boy in a tent at the front of his home and tried to get the boy to touch him.
Robinson told some victims to strip down for breathing exercises before abusing them, under the guise it would help with their singing.
His home and business were raided in March 2018.
Robinson was questioned at Wangaratta Police Station on June 27, 2018, and said his head was "spinning a bit", and chose not to comment.
He was questioned again a few weeks later on September 4 and 5, and on January 11 last year, and made some admissions, but largely denied what occurred.
He was found with 60 child porn images and videos on his laptop.
Robinson, who turns 48 on Saturday, was remanded in custody this week after pleading guilty to 19 charges.
He will be sentenced on February 12.
