Albury's Lachlan Carty recently claimed gold in the under-16 boys at the Little Athletics Victoria State Combined Events Championship at Melbourne's Lakeside Stadium.
The two-day heptathlon included 100m, 800m, 110m hurdles, long jump, high jump, discus and javelin.
It was the fifth time Carty had competed in the event, picking up bronze two years ago at under-14 level.

Carty achieved personal bests in five of the seven disciplines, including wins in long jump (6.03m) and high jump (1.75m), second in discus (46.47m) and third in 110m hurdles (14.69).
He had the lead going into the final event, the 800m, and ran a personal best time of 2.19.42 to claim the overall victory by 71 points.
Carty was also awarded the Bernie Curtin Trophy for overall boys champion.
"It's right up there with my best," he said.
Carty competes for Wangaratta Little Athletics and was joined on the podium by club mate Alex Pitt, who won the silver medal, while Xavier Pitt took out silver in the under-14 boys and Leo Woodburne bronze in the under-nine boys.
He'll head to the regional track and field titles in Bendigo next weekend for the chance to qualify for the state championships in late February.
