Wodonga takes down Wangaratta to reach another A1 pennant decider

The Bulldogs controlled the contest for the majority of the afternoon to finish with an impressive 110-86 victory.

Mason Bayliss scored a 31-16 win against Maurie Braden, Paul Davies was a 26-23 victor over Greg McDonald, Kylie Whitehead saw off Adrian Pantling, 28-20, while Josh Rudd narrowly went down to Ian Brimblecombe 25-27.

Wodonga veteran Ashley Bates has been at the club for 31 years and thinks it will be his 28^th grand final.

"We've won about 23 in the last 30 years," Bates said.

"Wangaratta has been the benchmark this season.

"We had the full list to pick from yesterday (Saturday) and I think a bit of finals experience has probably gone our way.

"It was a good battle and always played in good spirit.

"Wang haven't played a lot in the final over the last 10 years, but they're obviously a very good side. They'll bounce back for sure."

Corowa Civic will take on Wangaratta in the preliminary final next weekend after it thrashed Benalla in their sudden death clash, 123-65.

Peter Thelan defeated Chris Cooney 33-13, Adrian Hill toppled Sam Beaton, 34-15, Stephen McPherson's side had a 36-16 victory over Kyle Pugh, while Benalla's only rink win came via a 21-20 result for Chris Randell against Thomas Webb.

Corowa RSL progressed to the A2 grand final after beating Wodonga, 97-65, while Mansfield eliminated Moira with a 104-87 win.

Yackandandah is the first through to the A3 final after defeated Wodonga, 100-83, while Beechworth won a thriller against Wangaratta, 98-97, to keep its season alive.

Culb Mulwala booked its place in the A4 decider with a 115-72 salute over Milawa, who will face Swanpool next week after they beat Wodonga, 91-81.
