AN Upper Murray horseman has accused the federal government of being corrupt on a handwritten sign displayed outside the office of former minister Senator Bridget McKenzie.

Glenn Wilson attached the Texta-lettered paper banner to the rear of the camper on his Isuzu and then parked the vehicle in front of the premises in High Street, Wodonga, on Thursday morning.
The sign read: "Smell the Lies Nepotism Pork barrelling corruption."
Mr Wilson said his protest was motivated by a desire for a federal anti-corruption body rather than just the sport grants affair which resulted in Senator McKenzie resigning as a minister this month.
"I'm totally and completely disgusted at the level of corruption in federal politics," Mr Wilson said.
"The politicians are treating the electorate like fools, they have no shame.
"A proper federal ICAC is something the majority of Australians want and clearly need.
"The states have them, why are the feds holding out, what have they got to hide?"
"The proposal that Christian Porter has put forward is a sham, it's been slammed by the legal profession, judges, fellow politicians and clearly it's designed to not properly examine corruption in politics and the public service," he said.
"It would be a total waste of time, we need an independent anti-corruption commission with teeth and sufficient funding to stamp out the corruption that politicians seem to think is acceptable."
Mr Wilson, who has a bed and breakfast and horse enterprise at Tallangatta Valley, said his action was also a reflection on Senator McKenzie.
"Hopefully this will get her to realise we don't accept her behaviour and we don't want her as a Victorian senator or a member of the Lower House, which I think she was aiming for," Mr Wilson said.
Senator McKenzie was working from the Wodonga office on Thursday.
She declined to speak to The Border Mail about Mr Wilson's protest.
"It's democracy, people are entitled to have an opinion," a spokesman for Senator McKenzie said.
