Murray Bushrangers program shuts down amid coronavirus crisis

Murray Bushrangers players cannot train together until that date and will have a compromised season, which could particularly impact top age squad members in their all-important draft year.

Talent manager Mick Wilson confirmed the club's under-18 boys, under-18 girls and under-16 boys are on hold, with players to follow individual fitness programs until they can reunite.

"It's disappointing, but there's not much we can do about it. We just have to put all our energy into supporting the kids," Wilson said.

"We've shared all that information to the players and why it has come about.

"The players in our program have had a massive three months in preparation for the season and the girls have played two games already.

"We have to make sure they're ready when it does fire back up. When it starts again there will be a bit of pressure, if it does start at the beginning of June, because the nationals start not long after that and they'll be picking Vic Country teams.

"We want to try to get as many kids on the radar there with the Allies and Vic Country, so there's still a bit to do."

The Border's football landscape has come to a complete standstill until at least May 31 with the Ovens and Murray, Tallangatta and District and Hume leagues postponing their seasons due to the outbreak.
