On Monday, Golf Australia advised all golf courses to close until further notice due to the coronavirus crisis.
"We moved and continue to stand by the recommendation to clubs to close, that was in accordance with what Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Sunday night," Golf Australia's media manager Mark Hayes said.
Mr Morrison's announcement limited outdoor gatherings to two persons or fewer, while suggesting Australians stay at home except for:
- Shopping for essentials
- Medical purposes
- Exercise
- Work and education, if you cannot work or learn remotely

However, the NSW State Government met on Wednesday, allowing the game to re-start.
"The NSW Office of Sport would like to clarify the advice that went out on Monday, March 30," a statement from the Office of Sport - NSW Government said.
"As you know, there are now restrictions around public gatherings and rules around leaving your home. These new measures are in place to keep the community safe during the COVID-19 outbreak. But it is important to note that people are allowed to leave their homes for the purpose of exercise.
"Any form of exercise is to be undertaken in compliance with the Public Health Orders, meaning that people must not participate in groups greater than two persons at any point in time. Therefore, individual sports such as golf and tennis can continue provided the Public Health Orders are complied with.
"Maintaining the public's physical and mental well-being is now as important as ever. Where possible, it is important sporting clubs and organisations continue ... so long as social distancing is practiced."
Albury Commercial Golf Resort (social play only) and Thurgoona Country Club Resort have re-opened, while Corowa Golf Club had a meeting scheduled for Thursday night.
Victoria closed courses on Friday, until at least April 13, based on the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services directive as part of the Victorian Government's Stage 2 restrictions.
