An Albury person isolating in a Sydney hotel has become the Border city's eighth resident to contract the COVID-19 virus.

Murrumbidgee Local Health District announced the news on Friday morning, bringing the district's case total to 45.
The person had returned from overseas.
Four Albury patients have recovered from the virus, as have the two recorded cases in Greater Hume.
Federation has had seven positive tests, with five people recovered so far, while three out of five patients in Berrigan are also listed as recovered.
The health district said five of the 45 patients were in hospital as of 8am Friday, April 17.
Victorian figures on Friday from the Department of Health and Human Services showed no new North East cases of COVID-19 and only one additional case statewide from the previous day.
The North East statistics, by local government area, remain at 11 cases in Moira, three in Benalla, two in Wangaratta and one in Wodonga.
Albury Wodonga Health also confirmed on Friday morning there had been no further positive results to COVID-19 returned from testing at the health service.
Ten positive results had been recorded at the Border clinic from 1042 patients tested and 2628 screening calls.

Figures released by Murrumbidgee Local Health District showed 28 women and 17 men had contracted the disease to date in that NSW region.
Seventeen of the cases, 10 women and seven men, were people aged between 20 and 29 years.
There are nine cases aged between 60 and 69 years (five women, four men) and also nine cases 70 to 79 years (six women, three men).
Nobody aged under 20 or over 79 years has tested positive to coronavirus while the other patients are aged 30-39 years (three women), 40-49 years (one woman, three men) and 50-59 years (three women).
