In a move to connect with their audience, and also keep history alive, the Burke Museum and Beechworth Historic Precinct is offering free telegrams during the pandemic.
"We thought there were some pretty interesting correlations between how everyone is tackling modern technologies now, with things like Zoom and Skype, and exploring older technologies for communication," manager Cameron Auty said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"The telegram was really the first time people could connect over long distances and we are really hoping the people who take part in this get a connection with history about where all this modern technology got its beginnings."
But in these times of social distancing, the telegrams do have to be booked via the internet.
"The irony of using the internet to communicate this is not lost on us," Mr Auty said.
