Generational change and a wish to expand led two Border building businesses towards a merger that takes effect from July 1.

Lewis Homes and Dickson Builders will become Lewis Dickson Homes, with directors James Dickson and Reece Corcoran taking charge of the new entity.
Mr Dickson, an Albury-Wodonga builder for 14 years, knew Mr Corcoran and Lewis Homes managing director John Lewis through sport and community activities.
Mr Lewis said after 30 years in the construction industry, "it's time for me to slow down a little".
"Physical, mental, it's seven days a week, you're always on the go," he said.
"I have other interests and opportunities I want to continue on with, it was just a timing thing for me."

Mr Dickson said he had wanted to grow his business and looked forward to working with Mr Corcoran, who has been part of Lewis Homes for more than 13 years in drafting, sales and estimation.
"It's just good to have someone like Reece in the office that's got his head around the paper trail," the builder said.
"It just takes a bit of pressure off me and I can concentrate on the on-site building and making sure it's all done to our standard."
Two new display homes in Baranduda will be among the first projects of Lewis Dickson Homes, which will also focus on steel frames like its predecessor.
Mr Lewis, who will retain a role in the new company, said he had been thinking about a change for several years.
"I've put a lot of hard effort into the business over the years and I want to see that continue," he said.
"What basically I wanted to do was hand over the business to the right people, so it was very important for me to be able to choose two young men who had the right ethic."
Mr Corcoran said merger preparations were going quite well.
"I think we've had the time to process the natural progression," he said.
The trio said clients would not notice many immediate changes as current projects and staffing continued.
"It's business as usual, we've just got a name change and a couple of new faces within the business," Mr Lewis said.
