The easing of restrictions, announced by Premier Daniel Andrews earlier this week, means fisherman like Myrtleford's James Lennox can cast a line once again.
The 15-year-old said the lockdown on fishing has been "pretty tough".
"I like to get out there whenever I have free time," he told The Border Mail.
"It was really nice to wet a line today, despite not catching anything.

Social distancing is still enforced while fishing, hunting and playing golf.
