Just like their adult council peers, the 14 young people are meeting on Zoom during COVID-19 restrictions.
It was via the platform that Eli Davern, 16, and Jack Kelso, 14, were elected as mayor and deputy mayor.

Jack joined the council last year.
"I really enjoyed it, I thought it was great, giving youth in our community a voice," he said.
"We met weekly and did events on the weekends.
"We focused on the Winter Solstice, clean-up graffiti day and disability disco."
Eli said it was important youth were given a voice on infrastructure projects, such as current reviews of QEII Square.
"A number of groups meet there (at the Retro Youth Cafe), it's a great place for young people to hang out and have their own space," he said.
Isabella Towner, 16, Mia Fitzpatrick, 12, Bohdan Milburn, 15, Hazel McGrath, 13, Brianna Emmet, 11, Jessica Kemp, 16, Ryan White, 13, Saugat Bhattarai, 14, Finlay Nyholm, 20, Ellie Walsh, 17, and Colbey Baines, 15, are the other members.
