Alpine Council has announced it will renew some of the worn and cracked concrete footpaths, add more defined crossing locations and improve the central median strip on the main Gavan Street, between Star Road and Camp Street.
Assets director Will Jeremy said the combination of the wider painted median and raised concrete median islands would help to slow traffic and create a more pedestrian-friendly environment.

"We know how busy Gavan Street can be during peak visitor times - this is a fantastic project to improve the safety of community members and visitors alike," he said.

Foothpaths in other parts of Bright will also be repaired during this quiet time.
