The specialist disability accommodation working party, formed in May 2019, wants to gauge interest in a forum later this year to explore housing for people with a disability in Albury-Wodonga.
But as working party member Jeanette Baker points out, the need for appropriate house design is relevant to everyone.
"Disability can come from a sporting accident, disability can come from ageing, we talk about the housing as more a universal design," she said.
"And the universal design is about accessibility to a home from day dot right through to death, really."

Mrs Baker said home owners should consider, for example, the needs of potential visitors when building their house and developers should assess what shops and services are nearby before choosing a location.
A universal house design also broadened the market appeal for later resale.
"It's just to encourage people to open their minds and think more," Mrs Baker said.
"We just want more people to know about it and more people to get on board before they do build the house with the steps."
The working party, which includes families of people with a disability, allied health professionals and Albury Council, has identified some of the challenges that people with a disability and their supporters experience in negotiating the special disability accommodation process.
