AFL North East Border met on Wednesday night and announced Thursday that the Female Football and Wangaratta District Junior Football Leagues were cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
It means all leagues across the region have now been abandoned.
"This decision has been made with consideration to community health and wellbeing and that of players, volunteers and parents which have been the highest priority during the length of this pandemic," AFLNEB region general manager John O'Donohue said.

"Over the past week, changes to COVID-19 restrictions and the border closure have also been contributing factors in the cancellation."
"It is also noted that whilst the Season as proposed has been cancelled, Victorian and NSW State Government COVID-19 restrictions do not prohibit contact training or playing for under 18's and below in our area."
