Killian McHugh had since moved to Sydney and his efforts to travel back to Albury twice to front court were acknowledged by the magistrate.

But Richard Funston was far less impressed with McHugh's outfit in court.
He criticised the former Thurgoona resident's decision to wear a pair of jeans with rips that exposed his knees, especially as he sat behind his lawyer awaiting the completion of a sentencing submission.
Mr Funston said his objection was "not about fashion" but about showing far greater "respect" to the court.
McHugh, 27, pleaded guilty to charges of failing to comply with a police direction, for which he was convicted and fined $200, and resisting police, which resulted in a conviction and fine of $800.
A more serious charge of assault police was withdrawn.
Police were patrolling Kiewa Street near the Beer Deluxe pub on December 6, just before midnight, when door staff from the hotel waved to them from across the road.
They were trying to alert them to a group of men standing on the opposite side of Kiewa Street.
Police pulled up near the group, then McHugh approached and got "emotional" over claims he was unfairly dealt with by security staff.
The officers asked McHugh to move from the middle of the road to the safety of the footpath.
But McHugh refused several times and kept complaining at having been targeted for "grabbing a girl" in the pub "inappropriately".
This contact, the court heard, was accidental.
A caged police vehicle was called on for support, with one of those officers giving chase to McHugh when he sprinted away.
McHugh, who was drunk, returned and taunted the officer, who had his thumb yanked back by the accused during the arrest and had to later receive treatment at Albury hospital.
