Jodie Ann Contacolli faced the Wangaratta Magistrates Court on Thursday following the June 13 two-car collision at Laceby.
Wodonga father-of-three Jamie Drummond died when the FJ Holden he was testing was struck by a Nissan Navara utility on Greta Road.
His passenger, 77-year-old Guildford man Peter Turner, also died.
The matter was investigated by police officers from the Major Collision Investigation Unit.
Contacolli was charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death following the smash.
She entered not guilty pleas yesterday, supported in court by her husband.
Mr Drummond's son, Trevor, listened in on the proceedings via a remote video link.
Lawyer Geoff Clancy said a case direction notice had been submitted to the court.
He said the matter was proceeding by way of a hand-up brief of evidence.
Magistrate Mary-Anne MacCallum provided Contacolli with a caution before asking how she wanted to plea.
"Not guilty, your honour," she replied before resuming her seat.
The case has been listed to return to the County Court on November 12.
The court heard the first directions hearing would be held on that date.
Contacolli has been on bail since being charged by investigators.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The court heard she must continue to abide by the bail conditions, which includes that she not contact any witnesses in the case, apart from the police informant, and that she lives at a static address.
Prosecutor Michelle Zammit did not request that any further bail conditions be imposed.
Contacolli must notify the police informant if she changes her address within 24 hours.
