Border Relay For Life's organising committee has decided not to host a physical track relay owing to health concerns and COVID-19 government regulations.
Instead the community is encouraged to gather in smaller groups, while still abiding by state restrictions, at home, work or in the neighbourhood to Relay Your Way.
On November 28 the opening ceremony and candlelight Hope Ceremony will be livestreamed to teams, with the major raffle draw and other interactive activities also held throughout the day.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Committee chairperson Peter Whitmarsh said people would be able to relay in a way where they felt comfortable and safe.
"Walk for one hour or camp out in your own backyard with your family or decorate your yard," he said.
"There have been many creative ideas that have come out already, of people choosing an activity that suits them, and we are really excited to see it all come together."
Normally held as a 24-hour event in late October, the 2020 relay had already been postponed a month, but the coronavirus pandemic's ongoing uncertainty led the committee to announce the latest change last week.
