The tiny club with 25 members, is in the running to win a maximum of $25,000 and a minimum of $2000 courtesy of club captain Phil McLean.
McLean entered the club in the "Backthebattler" promotion where you had to explain why your sporting club is doing it tough in 2020.
The club was lucky enough to be one of 14 winners in the Australian wide competition with more than 400 entries.
The lucky winners have been paired with a Hotham runner in a bid to win some cash.
McLean said the promotion had generated plenty of excitement with the club set to cheer for Dante Pierro in the $75,000 feature maiden over 1200m.
"I just said how tough it is for clubs like Tallangatta, Yackandandah, Beechworth and Mitta where we shut down and support the other clubs when there is a tournament on," McLean said.
"So you have 80 players who spend $30 on entry and spend another $50 on food and drink.
"But due to COVID-19 we haven't been able to hold any tournaments so basically we haven't got an income.
"We only have sand greens.
"We don't even have any hazards on the course like bunkers except for the wriggly sticks (snakes)."

The Hotham was created to give the nation's worst performing horses a shot at a big payday.
This year's field has a combined 671 starts for no wins.
Dante Pierro has had 35 career starts for eight minor placings.
The gelding is trained by Aileen Vanderfeen and will be ridden by John Robertson.
Each horse will also run in specially designed club colour silks which the sporting clubs get to keep.
"I'll admit I haven't previously heard of the trainer or jockey," he said.
"The horse is also first-up since January and its last couple of starts have been over 2000m.
"We will be wearing all grey silks with a crow stranding on a golf flag with the number 19.
"The crow has a golf ball in its mouth because they tend to scavenge the balls out here at Tallangatta."
McLean said he had taken some time off work in preparation to watch the big race at 5pm on Friday.
"There will at least half-a-dozen of us at the Tallangatta Hotel from lunchtime onwards," he said.
"It smacks of being a big afternoon on the pots and the punt.
"We are hoping the club can win enough to buy a new mower because at the moment we share one with the show society."
The second-place horse will land $12,500, third $7500, fourth $5000, fifth $4000, sixth $3000 and then $2000 down to second last. The group with last across the line will pick up $4000.
