Albury MP Justin Clancy said the funding would help build a 2.4 kilometre shared path connecting Thurgoona Drive to Corrys Road and the Albury-Thurgoona Trail.
"This section will form part of a larger network of shared paths that will make it so much easier for people to travel around Thurgoona using two feet, or two wheels," he said.
Mr Clancy posted a video to social media from Corrys Road announcing the money.
"It's really exciting news today because this is a major connection into the CBD," he said.
"We know how much Thurgoona's growing, it's looking fantastic, so it's really pleasing to know 420,000 was announced today by the NSW government to put a cycle/walk path along here."
The creation of this shared pathway is part of a $710 million investment in walking and cycling infrastructure over the next four years.
