Coles is now trading as normal after an outage this afternoon.
A Coles spokeswoman issued an update just after 8pm after stores closed.
"Coles supermarkets nationally have reopened for trade after a technical issue with our point of sale system meant we were briefly unable to process transactions this afternoon," she said.
"To thank customers for their patience while our team worked hard to get us back up and running, Coles supermarket shoppers will receive triple flybuys points on their food and groceries this weekend.
"And to help customers who were unable to complete their shopping on Friday afternoon, Coles Online is offering free home delivery on orders of $50 and above until Sunday 18 October."

Coles supermarket staff are turning away customers due to a reported IT problem.
An issue at a border store was first noticed just before 5pm, with some registers going down mid-transaction.
Coles at West End Plaza in Albury shut not long after 5pm and customers were still being turned away an hour later over the border at the Mann Central store.
A spokesperson said Coles was working to resolve the issue.
"Coles supermarkets are being closed temporarily due to a technical issue with processing payments in our stores," she said.
"Our team is working hard to fix the issue and stores will reopen as soon as possible.
"We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience.
"Coles Express and Coles Liquor stores remain open for trade."
Coles Online is not impacted.
It's understood that as the checkout system is the issue, cash can't be taken either.
