A Lavington home has been extensively damaged by flames, smoke and heat after a fire in a bedroom.

Firefighters were called to the Dale Crescent home about 1.25pm on Wednesday.
Inspector Frank Finlay said the occupant of the home suffered smoke inhalation and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
He did not require further treatment at hospital.
"The fire was contained to the one bedroom but the remainder of the house suffered extensive smoke and heat damage," he said.
Firefighters and police remained on scene after the incident was brought under control.

The cause was unclear and was being investigated late Wednesday.
Inspector Finlay said about 15 firefighters from three brigades had quickly contained the fire.
