Officers were called to Dalgleish Street about 2.45am on Saturday after three people tried to enter the home by kicking in the front door.
Three young people were inside the property at the time.
Detective Senior Constable Tracy Jarrott said the group used weapons to smash four windows.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"The front security door was damaged along with the windows," she said on Monday.
"Police were called to the residence and witnesses describe the offenders to have been in a light coloured station wagon."
Investigators are seeking witnesses to the ordeal, which occurred near the intersection of Collins Street.
Crime scene officers attended the property and dusted for fingerprints.
Damage is still visible at the scene.
