Bira Flix and Asian Noodle Cuisine were targeted by two burglars who forced their way inside.
Andrew Gillam, who works at the video rental business, discovered damage to the property when he arrived for his shift on Saturday morning.
A cash register containing money was stolen after a window was smashed to gain entry.
Lollies were also taken and an item used to operate video equipment was damaged by the intruders.
"I walked in and found the place smashed," he said.
"This is the first time something like this has happened since I've been here.
"I feel a little bit scared to be honest."
The pair were wearing hoodies and appeared to keep their heads low during the incident.
They are thought to be male.
The entry to the property is covered by scaffolding, which may have obscured the view of the pair when they were outside the businesses.
Only a small amount of cash was taken from Bira Flix and it was unclear what was stolen from the Asian eatery.
