A young Glenroy man with a history of controlling behaviour has been slammed for an "absolutely appalling" stream of abuse and violence he inflicted on his ex-girlfriend.

Cody Allen pursued the woman in his car, at one point cutting off her friend who was driving close behind in his own vehicle.
She stopped and got out of her car to witness Allen yelling at the male friend: "Get the f--- out of the car, I'm going to bash you."

When she asked what he was doing, Allen began screaming at the woman - who had wound down her window - as he punched and hit the driver's door.
He then slapped her face, sending her into shock.
Soon after, Allen stood in front of her car when she tried to drive off as he yelled "wind your window down, wind your window down".
The abuse continued that evening of November 24, coming to an end only when Allen drove off after the victim threatened to call the police.
Albury Local Court magistrate Richard Funston was scathing of the 22-year-old's offending.
"Well, your behaviour was absolutely appalling," he said.
"If you ever behave like that again you will be locked up."
Allen pleaded guilty to domestic violence-related charges of intimidation and assault.
Defence lawyer Samantha Little said Allen came before the court "with humility and remorse".
"He is deeply sorry for his actions," she said.
"This incident was an isolated incident."
Ms Little said she was instructed that difficulties Allen encountered with the victim's behaviour towards him, as their relationship deteriorated, pushed him "to breaking point".
The court was told the pair had been in a relationship for about six years, but this ended two months before the incident over which he was charged.
She asked him to move out of her North Albury home.
Allen had, police said, been "verbally aggressive" towards her, "trying to control the victim and who she is friends with".
"The accused had been aggressive at times to the point where he would throw things around during an argument and damage the victim's property, screaming and yelling and at times threatening suicide if the victim didn't do what he asked."
Allen was sentenced to a 12-month community corrections order, with supervision.
