EARLIER
A watch and act message has been issued by the CFA for Rutherglen with a grassfire on the Murray Valley Highway near Greens Lane not yet under control.
Those who live next to grassland are asked to walk two or more streets away from the fire.
Grass fires are unlikely to spread past the first row of houses.
Residents asked to move must remember to take pets, medications, mobile phone and charger and travel to the home.
IN OTHER NEWS:
If you are away from home do not return and travel to the home of family or friends that are away from the warning area.
Anyone who lives two or more streets away from the grassland should shelter indoors, bring pets inside, close all exterior doors, windows and vents, turn off cooling systems and monitor conditions.
Grassfires can start and spread quickly and are considered extremely dangerous.
