Golfing major winner Geoff Ogilvy (2006) will tackle Wodonga's course in a fortnight in the inaugural Gen Z pro-am series.
"It's massive to have a US Open Champion, we've only had two (David Graham, 1981) in Australia's history," Wodonga Golf Club professional Gavin Vearing said.
It's extremely rare for a winner of one of golf's 'big four' events to play in regional areas with multiple champion Jack Nicklaus at Albury in 1963, while 1991 British Open winner Ian Baker-Finch contested Thurgoona's inaugural NSW Senior Open in 2017.
The Geoff Ogilvy Foundation is about helping promising youngsters take the next step in the sport with Wodonga's own European Tour player Zach Murray to battle Ogilvy in a nine-hole shootout on Tuesday, January 12.
