Reigning Albury and District grade three pennant premiers North Albury shook off a slow start to defeat Lavington, 63-48, in the season opener at Lavington on Saturday.

The Hoppers trailed on all rinks in the early stages of the contest, with John Dawson's side 9-0 down before it recovered to defeat Darren Moore's men, 19-17.
Stephen Broad's rink dropped a six in the first half, but finished strongly to defeat Vic Moore's quartet, 25-18, while Duane Crow played some big bowls under pressure to guide his team to a 19-13 result against Max Scanlan.
Henty sent out an ominous warning to the rest of the competition with a 56-shot thumping of Culcairn at Culcairn.
The Swampies won all three rinks to start their quest for pennant success in perfect fashion.

North Albury made it two from two in grade five with a 64-54 salute away to Culcairn.
Commercial is the only other unbeaten side in the grade thanks to its one-shot win, 53-52, on the road to Walla.
Oaklands bounced back from its round one loss with a dominant 97-41 win against Henty.

One dominant rink win was enough to get Rand over the line against North Albury in grade six, 64-45.
Commercial held off Lavington away from home, 58-51, as Howlong defeated Holbrook, 60-50.

North Albury won all three rinks in its 79-46 triumph over Urana in grade seven.
Henty got the points away to Howlong, 68-53.
