A lack of nominated teams has forced Albury City to put the annual pre-season soccer tournament on hold for 12 months.
President Kasey Medway hopes there will be more support for the cup next year.
"From what I understand from the association meeting the other day, a lot of clubs are struggling and I think it's a bit of an unknown how everyone is going to go fielding sides," he said.
ALSO IN SPORT:
"We just didn't get the interest, I think mainly because of all this COVID stuff.
"We've put it off for this year to give everyone a chance to rebuild and hopefully next year we'll come back a bit better."
There also wasn't numbers to support the Iannotta Cup for senior women's sides.
"It appears as though there won't be as many women's teams in the AWFA competition this year in first grade," Medway said.
"Obviously the clubs have to confirm that, but speaking to other club representatives, it's not looking the best.
"It's just the trend with a lot of sports at the moment.
"There's been a lot of other sports that have been through the summer and people have found them and have maybe started to concentrate on that a bit more.
"Basketball is one that was able to keep going and will continue on through the winter."
Albury City defeated Albury United to win its second Andronicos Cup in three seasons last year.
