WITH university students set to go back to study next month, former Wodonga resident Fraser Thomas has hit the ground running.

The Swinburne University of Technology Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) student has almost completed a 12-week work placement in Melbourne with AECOM, an American multinational engineering firm.
Part of Swinburne's Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program, Mr Thomas said he had worked on a level-crossing removal project, partly on site and from home due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"It was a good experience to be involved on a major project and to experience how much detail goes into it," he said.

Mr Fraser has gained casual work with AEOM during first semester.
"I'm finishing my studies this year but WIL let me fast-track some of the subjects," Mr Fraser said.
The former Catholic College Wodonga student selected Swinburne because he wanted to major in Architectural Engineering.
